Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Add the rye whiskey, fresh lemon juice, fresh orange juice, and grenadine syrup to the shaker.

Shake the mixture vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to thoroughly chill the drink.

Strain the cocktail into a chilled cocktail glass or a rocks glass filled with ice.

If desired, garnish with an orange twist by twisting a strip of orange peel over the glass to release its oils. You can also add a cherry by placing it on a cocktail pick and resting it on the rim of the glass or dropping it into the drink.
