We heard that the decor inside is very pretty so we wanted to try. We waited in the cold for probably 25-30min. Inside is grand! We also heard the food and service are not as grand as its decor. But the service we received that day was good. Fast and smooth. No hiccup at all. We only order a coffee, and soup and ice cream. We tried the goulash soup in the central market and it was nice so we thought it’d be a safe choice. We read a review somewhere that their ice creams are better than their cakes so we ordered the New York ice cream. Coffee is decent. Goulash soup is good; served hot. And the ice cream is very creamy and silky. Not too sweet. They charged additional company fee and tips-almost 20-25% of the bill. Overall our experience is good!

Wonderful experience at New York Café! The place is beautiful and elegant with an amazing atmosphere. The live music — violin and piano — creates a magical vibe. The coffee and food were delicious, and the service was excellent and fast. The waiters are extremely kind and welcoming. A special thanks to Zoltan for his kindness, professionalism, and friendly smile — he really made the visit even better.
Just note that there is only one restroom, which feels a bit limited for such a busy place, and there can be a line to wait outside before getting in. Still, highly recommended!

And then there’s New York Café — the actual café inside is truly a place of dreams.
There is a long line, so definitely go super early. We were there around 7:10 in the morning, which made all the difference. At the entrance, there’s a lady who looks very serious — but once it’s your turn and you step inside, she’s actually incredibly kind and friendly. I imagine she has to be strict outside just to manage the crowds.
Once inside, the service is brilliant. Attentive, calm, and polished. The hot chocolate was to die for — rich and comforting. We ordered the Italian breakfast for two, which was generous and satisfying.
And the space itself… absolutely stunning. One of those places where you keep looking up, around, everywhere, just taking it all in.
A beautiful experience from start to finish.

Visiting the New York Café in Budapest was truly an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment you see the building, you understand why it is often called the most beautiful café in the world. The architecture is absolutely breathtaking, with its grand ceilings, ornate chandeliers, detailed frescoes, and luxurious historic design. Simply sitting inside and taking in the surroundings feels like stepping back in time into a royal palace rather than a café.
The food and drinks lived up to the setting. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted excellent. The desserts were especially impressive, rich and flavorful without being overwhelming, and the coffee was well prepared and enjoyable. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into maintaining both the quality of the menu and the overall atmosphere, which makes the experience feel special and worth documenting with photos.
That said, there are a couple of downsides worth mentioning. The waiting line to get in was very long, and you should be prepared to wait, especially during peak hours. While this is understandable given how popular the café is, it can be tiring and may discourage some visitors. Additionally, the customer service could be improved. The staff were professional but felt somewhat rushed and not as warm or attentive as expected for a place of this caliber.
Overall, despite the wait and service shortcomings, the New York Café is absolutely a must-visit in Budapest. The stunning architecture and excellent food make it a memorable experience that I would still highly recommend to anyone visiting the city at least once.

A must visit, definitely the prettiest cafe in Europe. Our waiter Sandor saw supper friendly and had great recommendations. Yea the cafe is a little pricy but I thinks it’s worth the experience. Come before 9:30 for no wait.

What a beautiful place! We came here, because friends said that coming to this cafe is a must when you are in Budapest, and they weren't wrong. We were so lucky to enter within five minutes after our arrival, the servers were very kind, and the service quick. Before ordering our breakfast we look around and decanted for the most common option we saw around us, this ended up to be an amazing choice. I spent almost an hour walking around and admiring the frescoes, the ornaments and the whole general architecture of the place. No one rushed us. There was this amazing pianist playing classsic music, so the videos we made have an amazing track in the background.

This is my second visit to this beautiful café in Budapest, and practically in all of Europe. There was a misunderstanding, but the manager was very understanding and keen to ensure our satisfaction. Our waitress, Dora, was truly wonderful; her professionalism and kindness were exceptional. She advised us and helped us with our order. She was truly amazing. I will definitely visit again💓💓💓

Visiting the New York Café was a memorable experience. The grandeur of the building and its elegant interior immediately set the tone for something special. As expected, there was a queue to get in, which speaks to its popularity and reputation. Despite the wait, the atmosphere outside was buzzing with anticipation, and once inside, the staff made the experience feel worthwhile.
From the moment I stepped through the doors, the staff were very welcoming—warm smiles and attentive service created a sense of hospitality that matched the café’s luxurious setting. Check-in and seating were handled smoothly, and I felt well looked after.
It did take around half an hour for my order to arrive, which was a little longer than expected. However, the staff remained attentive throughout, checking in and making sure I was comfortable. The wait gave me time to soak in the stunning surroundings—the ornate ceilings, chandeliers, and rich décor that make the New York Café famous worldwide.
When the food and drinks finally arrived, they were beautifully presented and delicious, living up to the café’s reputation. The combination of the welcoming staff, the iconic atmosphere, and the quality of the food made the visit feel like more than just a meal—it was an experience.
Overall, while the wait time for the order could be improved, the charm of the staff and the breathtaking setting more than compensated. I would recommend the New York Café to anyone visiting Budapest who wants to enjoy not just a coffee, but a slice of history in one of the most beautiful cafés in the world.

I really loved this coffee shop – it is spectacular, and the whole atmosphere feels like something out of a fairy tale. Our order arrived quickly, and the waiters were very kind. The only downside was the long waiting time to get in, especially considering how cold it was outside. However, it was definitely worth the wait. 😇

Absolutely stunning café, worth visiting for the atmosphere alone. The New York Café truly lives up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful cafés in the world. The architecture is jaw-dropping: gold accents, marble columns, and frescoed ceilings make you feel like you’re dining in a royal palace.
I went early in the morning to avoid the queue, and that made a big difference. The staff were polite, though service was a bit slow, understandable given how busy it gets. I ordered the Blueberry cheesecake sundae. It was delicious, but it’s the ambience that really steals the show.
Prices are on the higher side, but you’re paying for the experience. Live music added a nice touch, and the whole place felt like a step back in time.
Tip: Go early or late to avoid long waits. No reservations during the day, so be prepared to queue if you arrive during peak hours.
Would I go again? Yes, for the atmosphere and dessert. It’s a must-see if you’re in Budapest, even if just for coffee and photos.

A wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere, the staff, the architecture, and the presentation of the food and drinks were all exceptional. Although I’ve seen mixed reviews about wait times and service, I must say the wait was quick, and every member of the team was fantastic. I visited solo and was truly impressed. The piano player not only displayed impressive skill but also had an incredibly charismatic presence. I can’t wait to return, this time with my partner!

This is a great cafe to visit because of the ambiance. Food quality is okay to quite good and the service is excellent. The big drawback is the queues are incredibly long!! There are no reservations but for those staying at the adjoining hotel you can get some degree of reservations, but most of the people here are simply walk-ins. Luckily we arrived when the cues had died down a little bit and it was about 1 hour or two prior to closing. Generally though, it's a really good idea to go and appreciate the architecture here while enjoying some very good food.

An absolutely stunning place with a truly unique atmosphere. The interiors are breathtaking and make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. We managed to get in without any queue by arriving at 9:00 a.m., which was perfect — calm, beautiful, and not crowded at all. A lovely breakfast, attentive service, and a memorable experience overall.

I honestly don’t get why this place gets so much hate. It’s more of a tourist attraction than just a café, so higher prices are expected. Yes, €13 for a cappuccino is definitely too much, but you’re not really coming here just for the coffee.
The sweets were actually quite good, and the real reason to visit is the stunning interior, it’s absolutely beautiful and perfect for photos. That part lives up to the hype.
We arrived on a Wednesday around 9:30 AM, and the waiting time was about 25 minutes, which wasn’t too bad considering how popular it is.
If you come knowing what to expect, it’s an enjoyable experience.

The Café is a huge place with different rooms and seatings. You can enjoy the beautiful setting, decorations and impressive Rooms which are indeed impressive. The Food is great and the service is very attentive and friendly. I enjoyed a smalltalk with Mr. Zoltan who was very informative and interested. Definitely a must see in Budapest. Best secret: the tomato Salad served as a side dish with the Schnitzel. Wowwww

What a beautiful place! I decided to come here on my own after reading that this café is an absolute must-visit when in Budapest—and it didn’t disappoint. I was lucky enough to be seated within just five minutes of arriving; the servers were incredibly kind, and the service was prompt. Before ordering breakfast, I glanced around and opted for the dish I saw most often on other tables, and it turned out to be a wonderful choice.
I spent nearly an hour slowly wandering the space, completely lost in admiration of the stunning frescoes, intricate ornaments, and the breathtaking overall architecture. No one rushed me at all. A talented pianist was playing classical music throughout, filling the air with such elegance that the little videos I recorded now have the perfect atmospheric soundtrack.
Visiting solo made it even more special—I could take it all in at my own pace, in peaceful immersion.
This has to be the iconic New York Café, often hailed as the most beautiful café in the world!

I liked the cafe! Firstly there personal was rude he brought me to a super dark table in the back and when we complained he told us go back and wait in the line which we waited 30 minutes already, but when we sat down one employee took my attention. He is tall Hungarian boy with curly hair and glasses. The best waiter i’ve ever seen i think his name was borazk and the way he treated us was absolutely precious. Overall super good atmosphere and i highly recommend!!!!

New York Café is an unforgettable experience that blends culinary indulgence with architectural grandeur. Often called the most beautiful café in the world, its opulent interior with gilded columns, frescoed ceilings, and crystal chandeliers creates a sense of timeless elegance. The menu features classic Hungarian desserts, refined coffees, and satisfying savory options, all presented with care. While prices are higher than average, the ambiance and history justify the cost. Service is generally attentive despite the crowds. Whether for breakfast, dessert, or a late coffee, New York Café offers a memorable taste of Budapest’s cultural heritage.

The atmosphere is elegant and historic, and the “golden” coffee is very good.
Our waiter, Sandor, was excellent — very kind, professional, and attentive. He made us feel welcome and took great care of us.

I waited for about half an hour, but it was so worth it! Dora, our waitress, was incredibly sweet and friendly. She even recommended the best desserts for me. The café is magical during the day. Loved it!
