Simply stunning — grand ceilings, ornate details, chandeliers, and a timeless elegance that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back into a golden era.
Despite being very popular, the service was professional and well-organized. Sitting inside and enjoying a coffee here felt more like an experience than just a café visit.
Prices are understandably higher than average, but you’re paying for the atmosphere, history, and the overall experience — which is absolutely worth it at least once.

This place is absolutely incredible! ✨ ✨✨New York Café is not just a café — it’s a true masterpiece. The interior takes your breath away from the very first moment: stunning frescoed ceilings, grand chandeliers, and beautiful golden details make you feel like you’ve stepped into a palace.
The service was excellent — attentive, polite staff and everything was served beautifully. I ordered a cocktail, which was delicious and very nicely presented. The Layered Hungarian potato with bacon and cheese was absolutely amazing — rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The combination of tender potatoes, crispy bacon, and melted cheese was perfect.
The atmosphere is truly special — ideal for experiencing the spirit of Budapest and taking beautiful photos. Yes, the prices are higher than average, but the experience and ambiance are absolutely worth it. I highly recommend visiting! 💙💛✨✨

This isn't just food, this is an experience. I don't understand the haters, the drinks and desserts were excellent. We're they pricey? Yes, but this isn't a run of the mill cafe. You're getting the stunning building, outstanding service (thank you K. Noeimi, you were amazing), and live music by professional musicians. So for all that it's very well priced. I was expecting a queue to get in but fortunately we rocked when it was only drinks and dessert service. I got the 25k hot chocolate which was thick and chocolatey, and the Hungarian sponge cake dessert which I thought was excellent.
Absolutely worth a visit.

The atmosphere ist unique and worth the visit. We had the hotel just around the corner and saw every day at least 20 people waiting to be seated. If you want to avoid long waiting be sure to come very late at night. It was almost midnight when we have arrived. No waiting,we get our table immidiately. Service had time and we get our order in just few minutes.Café ist open until 01:00.The prices are high(ice coffee 16€),but it's once in a lifetime 😉So If you want your coffee in stunning place, back in time, this is a place to be.

We went to New York Caffè and had a really great experience. The atmosphere is welcoming and well taken care of. The food is excellent, and everything else is high quality as well.
A special thanks to the waitress, K. Noèmi, who was truly kind, friendly, and professional. She made us feel comfortable from the very beginning and was attentive and helpful throughout our entire visit.
We will definitely come back — highly recommended!

We had a fantastic time at New York Café. The setting is stunning and refined, with a truly special atmosphere. Live violin and piano music add a magical touch to the experience. Both the coffee and food were excellent, and the service was quick and outstanding. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Visiting early in the morning between 7:00 and 9:00 means no waiting time, but it gets busy afterward.

I first visited the New York Café 9 years ago, and coming back today with my son and nephew was just as special. The beauty of this place is unbelievable—it feels like stepping into another era of elegance and grandeur. The desserts were delicious, and we loved every minute of it. Still one of my favorite spots in Budapest and absolutely worth a visit. ✨☕🍰

Visiting the New York Café in Budapest was truly an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment you see the building, you understand why it is often called the most beautiful café in the world. The architecture is absolutely breathtaking, with its grand ceilings, ornate chandeliers, detailed frescoes, and luxurious historic design. Simply sitting inside and taking in the surroundings feels like stepping back in time into a royal palace rather than a café.
The food and drinks lived up to the setting. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted excellent. The desserts were especially impressive, rich and flavorful without being overwhelming, and the coffee was well prepared and enjoyable. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into maintaining both the quality of the menu and the overall atmosphere, which makes the experience feel special and worth documenting with photos.
That said, there are a couple of downsides worth mentioning. The waiting line to get in was very long, and you should be prepared to wait, especially during peak hours. While this is understandable given how popular the café is, it can be tiring and may discourage some visitors. Additionally, the customer service could be improved. The staff were professional but felt somewhat rushed and not as warm or attentive as expected for a place of this caliber.
Overall, despite the wait and service shortcomings, the New York Café is absolutely a must-visit in Budapest. The stunning architecture and excellent food make it a memorable experience that I would still highly recommend to anyone visiting the city at least once.

The atmosphere and interior are truly impressive — you feel more like you’re in a museum than a café ✨🎻 The live music fits the whole experience perfectly. We were lucky because we didn’t have to wait to get in, but when leaving, there was already quite a long queue outside
There are many staff members, but even more visitors, so although our order was taken quite quickly, we still had to wait a while for the food and drinks, even though we ordered nothing complicated. The food and drinks were good ☕🍰, but with these prices, you honestly expect that.
Since we had time to wait, we naturally started looking around more carefully. At first glance everything looks stunning, but then I noticed dust balls in some floor corners. It’s a small detail, but in a place of this level, you kind of expect even the small things to be taken care of 🙂

Everything was great; it is a must to visit this place if you are in Budapest! Please make a reservation in advance if you want to be sure that you have a place where you can eat or just drink something! We paid 145 💶 for a lunch meaning: a Cesar Salad, rice and some vegetables ( vegan meniu ), 2 cakes, 2 cocktails! A bit expensive I would say but it worth every penny 😉

We arrived at this much-coveted place for tourists. We didn't wait long until we were assigned to a table, where a kind waiter took our order. The dishes are not extraordinary... The ideal place here is to drink a coffee and eat a cake. The location is wonderful, imposing with an exceptional internal decoration!

Truly stunning coffee shop connected to the Anantara Hotel. New York Cafe is often cited as the most beautiful coffee shop in the world. The interior is beautiful and ornate and there is live music with an ornate ambience. We made reservations which allowed us to get in at our time as there was quite a long line for walk-ins.

New York Café in Budapest is an absolutely unforgettable experience. We visited with our team from ImmerTwin and ended up having one of the best lunches of our trip — the food was genuinely excellent, beautifully presented, and the service felt attentive without being overbearing.
What really took it to another level was the atmosphere. The café is stunning inside — the kind of place where you keep looking up and around because every detail feels special. And while we were there, a live band was playing classical music, which made the whole experience feel almost surreal in the best way.
If you’re in Budapest, this is a must-visit. Unbelievable setting, incredible lunch, and a memorable experience from start to finish. Highly recommend.

We were not hotel guests, made a reservation based on review from friends. Our waitress Vanda was excellent. Our appetizer course arrived very quickly, fantastic flavor. Bar service was prompt as well. Our main courses, both the pork tenderloin and the duck were wonderful. Beyond the stunning architecture the Atmosphere was enhanced by piano and 4 piece violin group. We enjoyed our dinner experience.

This is my second visit to this beautiful café in Budapest, and practically in all of Europe. There was a misunderstanding, but the manager was very understanding and keen to ensure our satisfaction. Our waitress, Dora, was truly wonderful; her professionalism and kindness were exceptional. She advised us and helped us with our order. She was truly amazing. I will definitely visit again💓💓💓

"New York Café is without a doubt one of the most beautiful cafés I’ve ever visited. The interior is grand — with high ceilings, stunning frescoes, and an atmosphere that takes you back in time. The service was polite and professional, although a bit slow due to the large number of tourists. If you're in Budapest, it's definitely a place you should experience at least once."
Dora was exceptionally polite and professional. Her service was attentive and always with a smile. She made us feel welcomed and well taken care of. She knew exactly how to make our experience more pleasant. Thank you, Dora, for your kindness and care — you’re a true example of great service!

I had a magical experience at this beautiful café. The live music was wonderful, a customer sang opera brilliantly while the band accompanied her. The food was delicious, and the staff were delightful.
A special shoutout to Noeimi for her excellent service and impressive photography skills.

Despite some not enthusiastic comments I really enjoyed the place. Visited early in the morning, spent maximum 5 minutes in the line, got a nice seat by the window. You can order just an Expresso and enjoy the magnificent view and design of the interior, no need to spend a suitcase of money 😉

An absolutely perfect dining experience. The breathtaking interior design of New York Café is a masterpiece, with every detail exuding history and luxury. I ordered the classic hot chocolate and a selection of cakes; both the presentation and the taste were top-notch. The staff were highly professional and welcoming. Enjoying great music and food inside such an iconic, historic building is definitely one of the most unforgettable highlights of my trip. Well deserving of a 5-star review! 👍

We had an outstanding experience at the New York Café in Budapest, and a big part of that was thanks to our server, Noémi. From the moment we arrived, she was warm, professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Despite how busy the café was, she made us feel like valued guests and ensured everything was perfect throughout our visit.
The New York Café itself is absolutely breathtaking, but exceptional service can make or break an experience, and Noémi truly elevated ours. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and always one step ahead of our needs without ever being intrusive.
Thank you, Noémi, for helping make our visit to one of Budapest’s most iconic cafés so memorable. A truly unforgettable experience in one of the most beautiful cafés in the world. The interior is absolutely breathtaking, with stunning architecture, elegant decorations, chandeliers, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another era.
The food and drinks were very enjoyable, beautifully presented, and matched the luxurious setting. Everything felt refined and carefully prepared, making the visit feel special from start to finish.
The café can be busy because of its popularity, but the experience is worth it for the incredible atmosphere and unique setting. It’s not just a place to eat or drink coffee — it’s one of those places you visit for the entire experience.
A must-visit spot in Budapest, especially if you appreciate history, architecture, and elegant cafés. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
