This step-by-step guide will show you how to add Active Filters to your WordPress site using the Unlimited Elements Blocks Library. The Active Filters block is highly flexible, perfect for displaying a visual summary of all the currently applied filter terms (from Checkboxes, Tabs, etc.) and allowing users to clear them, improving navigation and search control, and works directly inside the native WordPress block editor (Gutenberg) – no coding required.
Click Download, then in your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and upload the ZIP file.
Click Install Now and then Activate to enable the plugin.
From your WordPress dashboard, go to Unlimited Elements → Blocks Library.
This is where all available blocks are listed and managed.
Use the search bar at the top right and type “Active Filters”.
The Active Filters block will appear in the results list.
Hover over the Active Filters block and click Install.
This adds the block to your available options in the editor.
Open any page or post using the WordPress block editor.
Click the (+) Add Block button, search for “Active Filters”, and insert it into the page.
Once added, select the Active Filters block and use the settings panel on the right. Adjust the Target Widget Name to connect to the filtered content, choose the visibility of the Clear All Button, and control the Layout and Spacing of the terms. Customize the Styling for the Filter Labels, Active Filter Terms (the “chips”), and the Clear All Button to create a functional, visually appealing filter summary that fits your site’s design.
