This step-by-step guide will show you how to add a dynamic Sorting Filter to your WordPress site using the Unlimited Elements Blocks Library. The Sorting Filter block is highly flexible, perfect for allowing users to reorder a list or grid of posts by criteria like date, title, or popularity, enhancing content discovery, and works directly inside the native WordPress block editor (Gutenberg) – no coding required.
Click Download, then in your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and upload the ZIP file.
Click Install Now and then Activate to enable the plugin.
From your WordPress dashboard, go to Unlimited Elements → Blocks Library.
This is where all available blocks are listed and managed.
Use the search bar at the top right and type “Sorting Filter”.
The Sorting Filter block will appear in the results list.
Hover over the Sorting Filter block and click Install.
This adds the block to your available options in the editor.
Open any page or post using the WordPress block editor.
Click the (+) Add Block button, search for “Sorting Filter ”, and insert it into the page.
Once added, select the Sorting Filter block and use the settings panel on the right. Adjust the Target Widget Name to connect the filter to your post content, choose the Available Sorting Fields and Order (Ascending/Descending), and control the Layout Style (Dropdown or Buttons). Customize the Styling for the Filter Element, Label Text, and Active State to create a functional, visually appealing content reordering system that fits your site’s design.
