When Miguel’s family forbids him from making music, he travels to the afterlife in search of his legendary singer great-great-grandfather, who he believes has been banished there. Coco is a 2017 animated musical film produced by Pixar Animation Studios. The movie tells the story of Miguel, a young boy living in Mexico who dreams of becoming a musician. However, his family has a generations-old ban on music due to a long-standing grudge with a famous musician who abandoned his family. Determined to pursue his passion, Miguel finds himself magically transported to the Land of the Dead on the Day of the Dead, where he meets his deceased ancestors and discovers the truth about his family’s past. Along the way, he teams up with a trickster named Héctor and together they embark on a journey to find a way to return to the Land of the Living.
