The 2021 Dune movie is an adventure film directed by Denis Villeneuve, based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. The story is set in the distant future, where noble houses compete for control of the desert planet Arrakis, the only source of a valuable substance called “spice.” The protagonist, Paul Atreides, is the son of Duke Leto Atreides, who has been assigned to take over Arrakis from the rival House Harkonnen. As Paul and his family arrive on Arrakis, they find themselves embroiled in a complex power struggle. Paul’s journey is intertwined with the Fremen, the native people of Arrakis, as he discovers his own powers and destiny.
