Simba, a prince who is a lion, and his father are being targeted by his uncle who is bitter and wants to become the ruler. Simba is forced to flee the kingdom and embark on a journey of self-discovery. Along the way, he meets new friends and learns about himself and his rightful place as king. With these newfound skills, Simba must eventually confront his uncle in order to reclaim his rightful throne and save the kingdom from destruction. In the end, with help from his friends, Simba defeats his uncle and is crowned the rightful king of Pride Rock. As he is accepted by everyone in the kingdom, he leads them into a new era of peace and understanding.
